Hair Color Education For Stylists

who want to become independent color thinkers.
From color theory to chemistry to formulation, CWC helps stylists fill in what was missing from their color foundation so they can stop second-guessing their choices at the color bar.

A lot of stylists already know how to identify color. The next step is learning how to use that knowledge on purpose.
What We Teach And How It Works

Most stylists have learned how to identify levels, tones, and underlying pigment. What they have not always been taught is how those things behave when it's time to formulate.

57.9% say "Yes" to knowing how to label colors, identify levels, name ULPs.

Only 28.8% say "Yes" to application questions like do you know how to create neutral vs natural, refine pigment, choose your tonal deposit, move color through the wheel besides neutralizing.

  • We teach the theory that explains WHY and HOW color behaves in hair color.
  • We help you build the skills to see what you're working with, predict what will happen, and formulate more intentionally.
  • Then we give you a process to organize all of it so you can think through any formula, any situation, using ANY color line.

Beginner Friendly Classes

Who this stage is for
This stage is for stylists who know something is missing in their foundation.

Maybe you're new and overwhelmed by conflicting information. Maybe you've been behind the chair for years and realize you never really learned the basics. You just figured out workarounds.

Either way, Beginner Friendly is for stylists who want to get their baseline solid so the rest of color education starts making sense.

This stage is not about your years behind the chair. It is about where you are in your understanding.

Not sure if this is your starting point? Take the 2 minute color survey in Where Do I Start.

What you'll learn
Basic color wheel orientation
Hue, chroma, and level basics
What color is and how we see it
The 5 basic ways to move color
How pH and hair structure influence results
Creating Neutral vs Natural
How to identify color in 3D space
Hair fiber basics and how pH affects it
How hair bonds break

What gap this fills
You cannot build real skill on top of shaky basics.

This stage gives you the language, theory, and baseline understanding that make color mixing, formulation, and chemistry easier to understand and apply.

What to take at this stage
Beginner Friendly Classes and free resources

What comes next
Training Your Eye With Color Mixing or Foundations of Color Theory

The most Brannon line in this version is:

This stage is not about your years behind the chair. It is about where you are in your understanding.

Mid-Level Classes

Who this stage is for
This stage is for stylists who understand the concepts, but cannot always apply them yet.

You know the color wheel and can label it, but you do not fully know how to move through it. You know melanin lifts, but you cannot always predict what pigment will remain.

Mid Level is where you start building the skills to actually use what you know behind the chair.

It is a good fit if you want steady progress without jumping straight into a full live class, or if there is one specific skill area you want to strengthen before going deeper.

Not sure if this is your best starting point? Take the 2 minute color survey in Where Do I Start.

What you'll learn
This stage is about building skill one area at a time so theory becomes more usable in real formulation work.

Depending on the class, you may learn how to:

  • train your eye to see tones and how they mix
  • understand how natural melanin lives in the hair and why it lifts the way it does at each natural level
  • read and decipher hair color categories
  • understand how color removers work and how to choose one with more clarity
  • choose tones with purpose within your color line
  • think through one part of the color process more deeply so confidence builds faster
  • connect individual concepts to real formulation decisions behind the chair

What gap this fills
You cannot formulate with confidence if you do not yet have the skills to see what you are working with and predict what will happen.

This stage helps close the gap between understanding color in theory and being able to apply it in practice.

It gives you a way to strengthen one skill at a time so you feel more capable, more prepared, and more ready for deeper formulation work.

What to take at this stage
A Mid Level class

  • Training Your Eye With Color Mixing
  • Hair Color Categories
  • Color Removers
  • Natural Melanin
  • Choosing Your Tone Bundle

What comes next
Foundations of Color Theory or Chemistry of Color, depending on what you feel ready for and what your quiz results show.

In- Depth Classes

Who this stage is for
This stage is for stylists who are ready to understand the full system behind formulation.

You are done collecting tips, tricks, and borrowed formulas. You want to understand how color actually works so you can make stronger decisions no matter what color line you use or what situation you are in.

This is where theory, skill, and process come together.

Not sure if this is your starting point? Take the 2 minute color survey in Where Do I Start.

What you'll learn
This stage teaches the full system so you can think through formulation more clearly and use what you know with more intention behind the chair.

You will learn:

  • how color works in 3D space
  • the laws and principles behind more predictable results
  • how to identify hue, chroma, and level with more accuracy
  • how melanin breaks down and how remaining pigment is created at each natural level
  • how to map color on the wheel using Directional Color Mapping™
  • how lift and deposit work together
  • how pH and structure influence the process
  • how to think through formulation instead of guessing
  • how to connect what you see to what you mix so you can choose tone more intentionally and better predict the result

What gap this fills
This is where the pieces start coming together.

A lot of color education gives stylists disconnected parts of the process. Formulas without understanding. Tips without context. Steps without the deeper reasoning behind them.

This stage gives you the theory, chemistry, and practical thinking needed to make formulation make sense as a whole.

It helps take the mystery out of color so your decisions feel more informed, more grounded, and more your own.

What to take at this stage
The In Depth classes

  • Foundations of Color Theory
  • Chemistry of Color
  • Formulating With Purpose
(Foundations of Color Theory and Chemistry of Color are both required before Formulating With Purpose.)

"I am so glad that I finally found the good way to learn about color chemistry and formulating. This was the Big Bang for me because I finally understood how things work the right way. Every information is connected, the 5 hour classes are so fun and intense, with good music by the way! I am more than happy with what I got. It opened my eyes so much and I can't wait to see what is yet to come in the Formulating with purpose! I am sure that it will blow my mind!"

"I just wanted to share a win I that I had this week because of your wonderful education, I've had a base color that I just couldn't get the right tone. Using color mapping like you taught me, I was able to get the perfect grey coverage with the right tone at the right level and it was gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!! Thank you so much. You're an amazing teacher and inspiration and the value I have achieved with your classes so far has been priceless."

"Hey guys I recently purchased the beginner's bundle and I have learnt so much from it. I have been a hairdresser in Australia for over 15 years and I just wanted to really go back and just revise my basics, see if there was anything new. I found the concepts explained well and have recommended your course to other stylists as I think there's a huge amount of knowledge in there. Thank you very much. I feel the course has been good value and my knowledge has grown"

"I just finished watching the video for the first time through and can I just say, this was such an incredible video!!! So, so, informative and the way you explain things is so clear and amazing!!!! OMG I cannot wait to take more classes with you!!! I have been a stylist for 16 years, I been doing color for barely 7 years and I worked in an education based salon and I learned more from this video than from any class I've taken. Thank you. Thank you for being the educator you are and caring enough to SHARE what you know with everyone!!! I truly aspire to have the impact you just made on my career to other new stylists!!! I cannot wait to watch it through more and take my notes and have deeper clarity from the a-ha moments I had! Again thank you!!! And I so look forward to more of your videos!!!"

"OMG!! That was fantastic information! I knew nothing about it and now I do! What was explained in the class I wish I knew when I was in beauty school. They said once you know the color wheel, coloring will be great. That's how much I was taught when I was in beauty school. This class should be seen in every beauty school because I'm not the only one who doesn't understand it. I can't thank you enough for doing this class."

"Absolutely everything was amazing. I love that the screen is on both sides so we can see your body language when explaining as well as your demo screen. The teaser at the end with developers definitely has me wanting more information. It's amazing what you do for us in this industry. I'm a licensed cosmetologist who is so timid that I haven't even picked up one client do to fear of not knowing what I'm doing. I want to give my clients the best information and the best outlook on their hair. You make it seem so smooth about learning and being confident in what to do in the color world, I may even take up on a client. I'm so happy someone on a Facebook cosmetology group recommended your classes. Worth it, totally worth it. Thank you so much!"
